Haikou is the capital of Hainan province. It's
the center of Hainan's politics, culture, economy and traffic.
Because it located in the west of the biggest river—Nandu River,
exactly in the estuary of it, so it named 'Estuary', means 'Haikou'
in Chinese.
Location: lies in the north of Hainan and on
the north by Qiongzhou Strait, opposite Haian town of Guangdong
province. Area:
land area 236.44 sq. km; sea area 530 sq. km.; built-up urban
area 33.64 sq. km. and city planning land area 1127 sq. km.
Population: more than 400,000
Transportation: very conveniently, Meilan Airport,
Xiuying Port and Xin Port link Haikou to all parts of the country
and world; town bus and taxi could take you to anywhere you
want. Climatic features: It's like
spring all the year round, the average temperature is 24.6 C.
